IMPACT MATTERS

We understand that in Architecture we are in the business of creating things that are very large and permanent. The general public and people without say end up spending time within them. We have a responsibility to remain highly conscious of what we put into the world, and maintain a positive impact to our projects and the city. Its important to us to leave this place a little bit better than we found it.

We are overjoyed to be working on a project with the Edmonton Humane Society! This is a not-for-profit close to the heart. It has been fascinating and inspiring listening to different departments within EHS show their passion for animal welfare and best practices from all different perspectives. We can’t wait to take this new knowledge and translate it into what we love to do! Check out @edmontonhumane and try not to let your heart burst.

The CREW Edmonton chapter is a pretty special organization full of professionals encouraging each other to succeed and speaking highly of you when you’re not in the room. What a beautiful Gala last night celebrating 10 years as a chapter! Congrats to the highly deserving award winners. #breakinggroundgala

The @edmonton.crew CREWMATES mentorship matching event was so much fun yesterday. @dallayeg was a lovely host for the event! Great food and wine. We hope once the matches are confirmed everyone has a top notch year with their mentor!! 😊 And as always, it's delightful to chat with all these fabulously inspiring women.

Thank you EFCL for bringing me (Tara) along to this lovely event supporting the U of A Planning Dept. My suspicions have been confirmed: Urban planners are warm, friendly, and lots of fun! It was a blast to catch up with many familiar faces. 😊🎉

EDMONTON DESIGN WEEK is here!! This was the opening party on Tuesday. There are an amazing number of events from now until Sunday. Tara will be volunteering at the speaker series and wrap up party on Saturday. We hope to see you there!

Tara sits on the board of directors for the Consulting Architects of Alberta. She is also on the Education Committee, with a commitment to help create more resources for firm owners and Architects to be able to elevate the profession collaboratively.

CREW (Women in Commercial Real Estate) is an international organization that has a particularly powerful association here in Edmonton. Their committees and collaborative support are a powerful force in Edmonton’s real estate development and construction industries. Tara is on the Future Leaders Committee to fuel her passion to support and elevate potential careers in Architecture and adjacent fields for the next generations of young women in Highschool, University, and those crucial first few years of a young adults career.

We are passionate about finding a way to use our skills as professionals to make an impact on systematic issues related to the vulnerably housed populations. Tara is a part of a group of like minded industry professionals who are community advocates and “systems designers”. The group is passionate about finding out how we can mend the divide and barriers for the vulnerably housed created by NIMBY fears. We are looking at what kind of social and built conditions might create an atmosphere that encourages compassion, tolerance and community spirit between otherwise tense and combative adjacencies.
